Hello, my name is Brian. I love to travel. So I spent a number of years sitting in an office desk in Iowa. Somehow that seemed like the right thing to do. Until it didn’t. I quit my job and spent a year backpacking through the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Like all good backpackers worth their salt, I ran out of money.
I spent many years working as a web developer, programming in Microsoft .NET for all you geeks out there. Before and during my year of backpacking, I realized I could do my work on the road. The key was finding a company that recognized and understood my vision. I returned to the US and started searching for the company that would share and help nurture my aspirations.
Luckily I found that company in Chicago. I spent the year 2013 working in the US, then the beginning of 2014 saw me heading south to Mexico for five months, road-tripping across the US during the summer, then flying to Europe for the fall (UK, Netherlands, Germany, Romania). The first couple months of 2015 have resulted in many adventures in Peru and Mexico. From April until the end of July I will be road-tripping around the States again, then off to Europe and other destinations yet unknown.
I continue to maintain a great working relationship with my company, and during my free time I explore. Through my travels, I also discovered a love of photography. It seems to bring out my creative side, which gets buried beneath code when I am working. I also occasionally write.
This blog is my outlet. I work, I explore, and when I feel the urge, I blog. It seems to be a good conglomeration. It’s worked so far, and I will continue this path until it doesn’t work anymore. Join me. Let’s explore the world together.
