After completing my Open Water Certificate I immediately knew I wanted to continue on and receive my Advanced Diving Certificate. We had two days of incredible dives, including a wreck dive about 26 meters down of an old warship. We also had a night dive, which opened up a whole new world of sights. Finally, we had a photography dive, in which I got to test out my skills with an underwater camera.
Along the way we also learned some valuable techniques, including using a compass underwater to orient ourselves, using a computer assisted watch to determine depth, time at depth, total time of dive, and other necessities such as the stop limit at 5 meters.
One of the absolute highlights of the photography dive was seeing a turtle and swimming along with it for around 5 minutes. This guy was so mellow, truly Finding Nemo got it right. He seemed like such a surfer dude, mellowed out by one too many Mary Janes. During that five minutes swimming along with him and photographing him, I felt myself relax and everything else disappear. Diving had become natural, second nature. I was totally in the moment without worrying about breathing or maintaining neutral buoyancy. I was just there. Turtle and me. Exploring the rocky bottom for a little snack.
I am excited to continue on to places, including Indonesia, to dive more diverse sights. I feel like now that I have discovered scuba diving, I can’t let it slip from my grasp.

So awesome Brian! I especially liked your comment on your turtle being mellowed out with too many mary janes. Now you know what we were all like in the 70’s!! It is funny hearing you younger generations call it mary janes. We didn’t.
I love your sea world pictures! I am glad you are having so much fun!!

Awesome Brian! I’d say you mastered that underwater camera, can’t wait to see more! How about actually Finding Nemo and Dory too?!? Heck, why not Ariel while you are at it! 😉

I’ll try to find Ariel, Nemo, and Dory when I dive in Indonesia. I’m pretty confident I will see the latter two. I’m not so sure about Ariel though. If I do see her maybe I’ll sing some Disney song to her and see if she recognizes it.
